All of us on occasion encounter spam on the Internet; it's sadly become a staple of the modern online experience. Unfortunately, eHow is no exception to this, and occasionally malicious folks try to attack, trick, or defraud our members.
Recently, for example, some members received a message in their eHow inboxes, purporting to congratulate them on winning a fictional promotion. The message wasn't particularly convincing — it directed you to contact someone in China to claim your winnings, and we're a California-based company.
When we need to send special announcements, whether to an individual member or to the site's community at large, we'll always send our messages directly to your email inbox, directly from an address at eHow.com or DemandMedia.com (our parent company). If you're ever unsure about the legitimacy of a message you receive from eHow.com, just forward it to us at member.service@ehow.com, and we'll let you know.
Best Regards,
The eHow Team
